Be Mine, Valentine

Love it or loathe it, St Valentine is once again hot on our heels, co-ercing us into paroxysms of sentimentality, and forcing us to put up with set menus in restaurants.

Whether or not you agree with him, there’s no doubt that if you’re lucky enough to have found love it’s a jolly good excuse for a gastronomic blow-out. With this in mind, I’ve rounded up my favourite foodie gifts to give you some romantic inspiration. So stick on the Barry White and let Cupid do the rest…

Lovers’ gift set from Chococo

Ridiculously pretty choccies and a gorgeous chocolate heart to melt your loved one’s away. Their chocolates are all fresh, made with local ingredients in the wilds of the Purbeck hills.

Valentine’s fish box from Fish for Thought

Ok, so fish doesn’t immediately spell romance, but a dozen oysters, dressed crab, seabass fillets and crevettes certainly spell a delicious meal, and it’s all delivered to your door so fresh it’s practically still flapping…Order early!

Absolutely anything from Fortnum and Mason!

You can’t beat Fortnum’s for luxury, and a foodie gift in their gorgeous packaging is guaranteed to win you your sweetheart’s love. Men, please take note!

Neufchatel cheese from Natoora

Delicious heart shaped cheese from Normandy – soft, slightly mushroomy in flavour and with a grainy texture. Try Natoora’s other Valentine’s selections too – they’re chocolate fondants are to die for.

Rosé Champagne from Nicolas Feuillatte

Rosé Champagne is always a winner, and this one’s an award winner. From the fabulous 2004 vintage, snap it up quickly before they sell out.

Love Grows collection from L’artisan du Chocolat

Chic, elegant, and effortlessly romantic – these heart shaped chocolate boxes will have you in anyone’s good books.

Heart-shaped cheddar from Godminster

They even got the colour of the wax right! A twee, tongue-in-cheek but totally fabulous gift – this cheddar really does take some beating.

A box full of nostalgia from A Quarter Of

The place to go for all of your favourite sweets. From liquorice humbugs to jelly cherries, they’ve got everything and you can personalise gift boxes for your very own sweetie (sorry, couldn’t resist.) Check out their Valentine’s range too.
